Within these 10 pages it is evident that Redfield looks at these cultures almost as a different breed of human. While his writing isn’t as repetitive as in the earlier portion of the reading, his language is very suggestive. He clearly examines these cultures as groups of a larger category of the “peasant culture” for which they fit select qualifications. Even by turning to other anthropological works that he uses as reference for how to examine peasant societies. While he sees the word “primitive” as being incorrect, he appears to be just working around it, as opposed to recognizing qualities that stray away from that concept.
