Dehli 1
Dalrymple did a fine job setting up the scene and trying to get you to understand the context of what exactly is going on, but I was disappointed that he tried to find something to blame the rapes on other than the culture just being completely backwards. Also I think it was completely bogus that he began with the rape, only to excuse it and pass it off as something that is inevitable, and then completely stopped talking about it. This article was much less of a reflection than it is a description. What of the rapes and what may be solutions to them? What of the difference between the impoverished and the rich, besides how strange boutiques look with water buffalo near them. Destructive negligence of some of the biggest problems the country and city are facing does not count as a reflection.
