Boo 100-125

Through her story telling and character introduction, Boo is able to shine light on the social issues in Annawadi. We are aware of the political corruption and the devastating living conditions of the slum, but what really hit me in this part of the story was when Fatima set herself on fire and was sent to a free hospital. The treatment at the facility seems non-existant. The medicine runs our and relatives are forced to actually care for the sick because the nurses won't go anywhere near them. Syringes are reused, bandages aren't changed. It's heartbreaking to even think a place like this can be named a hospital. When you think of a hospital you think of healing and the sick being nursed back to health. You absolutely don't think of a dirty place that the ill go just to die.
