The story is winding down and everyone is dying. It's heartbreaking. And possibly the worst part of it all is that it non-fiction. I have to keep reminding myself that this isn't just some made-up story, but this actually happened. And I am certain it continues to happen whether I am reading about it or not.
Maybe it's in the way that Boo delivers the story that seems so unreal. Or maybe it's my own denial that there are people who have to live in constant pain and suffering and so much corruption. Either way, the book has made me feel. I feel sad for each character's loss and I'm saddened by my dying hope for their happy ending in this book and in their lives.
